Writers Table: Beta-Reading the WRITE-WAY Presented by Linda Hartmann

September 10, 2022

Beta-Reading-The-WRITE-WAY-1Download

Linda Hartmann has been an avid reader of various genres and disciplines. Throughout her career in critical care and as a scientist in biotech, she wrote many research documents for U.S. and ex-U.S. Regulatory Authorities (FDA, EMEA Europe, PMDA Japan). CDAs meant the intel was confidential to all on the outside. Torn between the sciences and arts, she elected to combine them with creative writing, painting, sketching, and exploring the world with travel. Beta-reading for others followed organically.

Some local authors’ books and plays she has beta-read for include:

Carl Djerassi 1923-2015: Known as the ‘Father of the Birth Control Pill.’ Beta-read multiple plays/books (1996-2014:) e.g. Menachem’s Seed (1997), An Immaculate Misconception (1998), ICSI Sex in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction (2002), Ego (2003), also produced as Three on a Couch, Taboos (2006), chapters from In Retrospect: From the Pill to Pen (2014), his third autobiography.

Theo Czuk – Heart-Scarred (2011) Theo Czuk’s 1st novel, Heart-Scarred won the 2014 Laramie Book Award for Best Literary Western. In 2020, Heart-Scarred was inducted into Laramie Book Awards Western Hall of Fame.

John Byrne Barry: When I Killed My Father: An Assisted-Suicide Family Thriller (2019). CWC-Marin. Robert Poirier:The Killings at Hulls Cove (2021). CWC-Mt. Diablo Branch.

Linda is past-President and current Vice President of the Mt. Diablo Branch of the California Writers Club.
