November is our month for fundraising!
In the past, we’ve added our donation requests to the Membership Renewal form and your generosity has always been wonderful. We didn’t do that this year, so we’ve designated November for a special fundraising drive. We have two programs which function on donations. These programs are shown below.
Donations are welcome at any time and are tax-deductible. CWC Mt. Diablo is a 501(c)3 charitable organization, EIN: 94-6082827.
Young Writers Contest
YWC is entering its 32nd year as a CWC Mt. Diablo community program. This contest is for Middle School Students in Contra Costa County, with categories in Short Story, Poetry, and Personal Narrative. The contest is currently chaired by Quynh Trinh and AnneMarie Mazotti Gouveia. Our members volunteer as judges. Contest winners are celebrated in a fun, family-centered ceremony. We also honor their teachers, who are instrumental in encouraging students to participate. We give cash prizes to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each category.
Your donations keep the contest alive and growing, and with 45,000 middle school students in our county, we have a long way to grow!

Writers Helping Writers
CWC’s motto is “Writers helping writers.” We help in obvious ways, with professional speakers, critique groups, sharing what works and what doesn’t, and other things. But we also know that sometimes, a struggling writer needs a little more… practical assistance.
We want to help you with that, too.
Our branch has established this fund for any member who needs help with paying for a meeting or workshop. We will also help with membership costs, including for prospective members. Applications are private and we never ask for financial information.

You may donate (or ask for assistance) any time using the same link as above.
