Congratulations to Barry Hampshire, Mt. Diablo’s recipient of the Jack London Award!
Every two years, each CWC branch chooses to honor one of its members who has been particularly instrumental in helping the branch further its mission. A plaque recognizes this service of “above and beyond,” and is presented to each honoree at a state-wide CWC banquet.
Barry has given generously of his time in his role as president since 2022. His legacy could be summed up in the simple words, “Yes, let’s try it.” The attitude embodied in those words encouraged our branch to do more than have only one meeting each month. Under his watch (as part of the “British Invasion” with Michael Barrington), we added Writers Connection, Open Mic, and What’s Your Story? reading group. For the last year, Barry led the Board of Directors through the harrowing experience of changing our meeting venue, as well as restructuring our meeting format. He remains committed to the work of guiding the branch successfully through these changes.
Thank you, Barry, for all your hard work on our behalf. Huzzah!
