Bruce Lewis Announces Book Launch for Angel of Mercy

Angel of Mercy, Book 1 in a New Mystery Series.

Author and CWC Member Bruce Lewis has launched Angel of Mercy, book 1, in his new mystery series. It’s available on Amazon as an ebook and paperback. You can get it free as a Kindle Unlimited subscriber. Click here to check it out:  https://www.amazon.com/Angel-Mercy-Book-ebook/dp/B0CKBP6RB2.

At the heart of the series is Veterinarian Jim Briggs, whose parents taught him two important life lessons: everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, and everyone should be free to choose their own time of death. By day, he fights for the lives of dogs at an emergency canine hospital. By night, he’s a crusader for the residents of Chicago’s Lazy Acres homeless community. When they request his help, he is their Angel of Mercy.

Other books in the series will be released in the next few months: Book 2 – Human Strays, Book 3 – Family Curse, Book 4 – The Red Flock, and Book 5 – Bless Me Father—For You Have Sinned.

“My traditional publisher released my first three novels, Bloody Paws (2021), Bloody Pages (2022), and Bloody Feathers (2023), as the Kim Jansen Detective Series,” Lewis said. “After a falling out over promotion and sales, I decided to self-publish and rebrand my series. Angel of Mercy is a new book, while Bloody Paws (now Human Strays), Bloody Pages (now Family Curse), and Bloody Feathers (now The Red Flock) are updated with new names, new covers, and back of book blurbs.”

Lewis said he transitioned to indie publishing in 45 days with the help and advice of several fellow writers.

“The bottom line: I now have control over every aspect of promotion,” said Lewis. “Instead of semiannual payments of royalties, which were 20% net sales under the traditional publisher, I’ll get 70 percent royalty payments monthly through Amazon and other platforms,” he said.

“No matter how you’re published, you still need to promote your tail off to build readership and sell books,” he advised. “Writing the book is early days.”
