John G. (Jack) Sharp

John G. (Jack) Sharp is a graduate of San Francisco State University, MA History. Jack writes frequently on military, labor, and racial history for a variety of different organizations and periodicals. His Diary of Michael Shiner 1813 -1869 is widely utilized and featured on the Library of Congress web page https://www.loc.gov/exhibits/civil-war-in-america/biographies/michael-shiner.html. He has taught history, political science, and served as consultant to private and governmental organizations. His most recent article was written for Department of Navy to commemorate the 204th anniversary of the Battle of Bladensburg fought 24 August 1814. The article highlights the largely unknown participation of young sailors 12-18 and enslaved and free African Americans in the battle.
